You’re only heard if you’re someone

Lady Gaga could tweet the word “foot” and get over 11,000+ plus retweets on it, Kanye West can just on an awards show stage, shit-faced drunk and interrupt an innocent country singer, and get several interviews about it, and start a whole new trend. I could write an entire book about effects of mass media on society (something that really interests me) and maybe 4 people would know, and even fewer would be interested.

Is this fair?

I can’t decide. Okay, these people have talent. But don’t we all have some sort of undiscovered talent? How is it fair that while they are basking in fame, money, and power, the less fortunate “gifted” people are at home blogging about how they wish they could get a point across. I wish more than anything that I could see everyone’s opinion on things, and everyone’s undiscovered talent. It’s the ugly truth that that will never happen, and I will never know the truth behind things I would die to know. There’s people out there who know what we crave to know. Who know the uncertainty that keeps us awake at night. But, will we ever get to know, will we ever figure that out? No, we are too busy soaking in what it would be like to be famous, to be heard. When we need to be exploring.

Can we just all make a pact to spend less time wishing and more time exploring for what we wish for? Then maybe all the undiscovered talent (even you) will have a chance to get heard. Whether we want to admit it or not, we are dying to be heard. Let’s not be famous, let’s be heard.

“I don’t need to be famous. I’m not that ambitious. At this point, if I’m not sucked in, I’m never going to get sucked in. Being the so-called hot girl, I disconnect from that. It’s not that deep.” -Jessica Alba
